Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Harvard Model Congress Dubai 2018! My name is Cass Hastie, and I am so excited to be chairing the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

As a delegate in this committee you will be asked to think deeply about issues surrounding education and employment in the United States, namely how to best address arguments over Common Core standards. You will be representing congressmen from both parties, however you must learn to cooperate and work together as this committee deals with debates that affect the lives of every single American.

As your chair, I look forward to watching you brainstorm solutions and flesh out your opinions and visions. It is my goal to assist you in creating interesting debates and thoughtful conversations. I also, of course, hope to watch you foster new friendships along the way. A little about me: I’m a senior at Harvard from Woodstock, New York. I am currently studying Government with a secondary in Ethnicity, Migration, Rights and a language citation in Spanish. In short, I study human rights in Latin America. I’ve staffed all six HMC conferences, but when I'm not teaching about the importance of civic engagement I serve as a peer counselor for body image and eating concerns and give tours for the Harvard Admissions Office. For fun, I like to run and listen to Kanye West.

Please feel free to reach out with any and all questions over the next few months, or shoot me an email to introduce yourself if you’d like! I’m truly looking forward to meeting each and every one of you.

Warmly,

Cass Hastie
